 Itinerary

Machu Picchu & the Sacred Valley

                       

Day One:  Saturday, September 6, 2014

Your Journey begins with a private transfer from Cusco airport to your hotel situated off the historic Plaza de Armas.

1:00 pm Meet your guide in the hotel lobby.  Lunch followed by a walk through the cobblestone streets of San Blas:  Incan stonework highlighted en route to the Korikancha Temple, the holiest site during Inkan times.  Your evening is free.

Please arrive into Cusco no later than 11:00 am to acclimate to the 11,000 ft. altitude.  Guests who have arrived the day before (Friday) feel great the next day (L)

Day 2:   Sunday, September 7, 2014

a.m.  After breakfast your guide will take you to the Inkan ritual fountains at Tampumachay.  “Where there is water there is life”  Participate in a ceremony to honor Yaku, the spirit of water, to open the body’s energy centers and activate and enhance your individual creative and healing forces.  A traditional coca-leaf ceremony invites you to tap into the energies of Pachamama, Mother Earth.

Continue on a guided tour to the awesome giant stones of Saksaywaman overlooking the city of Cusco where your party may choose to participate in a brief meditation or hike around the vast Inkan site.  Afterwards you may visit the shamanic site of Kenko.

3:00 pm  Drive to Willka T’ika in the Sacred valley through the spectacular Andean mountain scenery.  Quechua staff will offer you an orientation of the retreat center.  (B, D)

Day 3:   Monday, September 8, 2014

Every morning at Willka T’ika with the exception of Machu Picchu early departure:

Morning Yoga with Anne,  followed by 8:30 am Gourmet Buffet Breakfast

a.m.  This day is dedicated to Pachamama, Mother Earth, guests are encouraged to relax and meditate in the splendors of Nature.  A full tour is offered of the Seven Chakra Gardens.  Your guide will offer an hour’s stroll through the Umichaka farming neighborhood to see where the Quechua campesinos live.

1:00 pm  Wholesome gourmet vegetarian lunch.  In the afternoon, choose to indulge in an Andean spa treatment.  Optional coca-leaf reading with the Pakko  Qero healer visiting from the high Andes.

After dinner, enjoy a group Andean offering and transformative fire ceremony with our pakko which serves as a wonderful preparation of mind, body, and spirit for your pilgrimage to Machu Picchu tomorrow. (B, L, D)

Day 4:   Tuesday, September 9, 2014

a.m.  Rise early for the train to Aguas Calientes.  A bus takes you to the sunlit terraces of Machu Picchu.  Enjoy a fabulous guided tour of the ancient “City of Light”.  Experience a journey through the masculine energy temples of the political and spiritual power followed by a deep reconnection of the feminine earth energies within the Divine Self.  Anne will guide a group meditation.  Picnic lunch provided to save time.

p.m.  In the afternoon hike to the Inti Punku, the original Inkan Gatewat to the sun or take an even more challenging hike to Machu Picchu Peak.  Late afternoon train back to Ollantaytampu where you will transfer to Willka T’ika in time for dinner.  (B, L, D)

 

Day 5:   Wednesday, September 10, 2014

Workshop with Anne: The Merging of Opposites/yoga, meditation, mindfulness.

This day will include an extended yoga session, seated and walking meditation.  More active students will be encouraged to follow a map to hike along the zigzag paths of the fascinating ancient Maras salt farms or a variety of other hikes and activities through the valley and up the mountains.  This afternoon Andean massage, Breema and crystal light therapy healing sessions will be available. Day 6:   Thursday, September 11, 2014

An Anyi day.  Welcome the sparkling energies of the day with a drive through the Sacred Valley to a Quechua mountain school, one of four supported by the nonprofit Willka T’ika Children’s Fund.  This program supports schoolteacher and children in isolated high mountain communities where few tourists are privileged to visit.  In a reciprocal ayni exchange, the group offers an activity the children can enjoy.  The warmth and joy of the children and their openness in brining guests into their daily lives are special moments.  Visitors always are humbled and deeply moved by this heart-opening morning.

 

Day 7:   Friday, September 12, 2014

Workshop day with Anne: yoga, meditation, mindfulness.

This day will include an extended yoga session, seated and walking meditation.  More active students will be encouraged to follow hike into the town of Urubamba, visit the market, eat lunch and visit the famous Seminario Pottery factory or a nearby local alpaca store.  In the afternoon choose an optional spa treatment or meditation in the chakra gardens before a late afternoon yoga session.  Celebrate with a farewell dinner at Willka T’ika. Day 8:   Saturday, September 13, 2014

10:00 am Check out time with group bus transfer to the Cusco airport to connect to Lima, allow three hours and 15 minutes before your Cusco flight.
